My new piece, If You Only Knew, for String Trio and Harp, represents the emotional journey I’ve been on this past year. I have felt extreme highs and lows, but ultimately, I have emerged more hopeful and optimistic than ever. While not directly a response to the ongoing struggle we all face during this unprecedented period, I feel the piece can also serve as a commentary for the challenges facing humanity and what I believe will be our ultimate triumph over adversity.
Be well and take care of each other during these trying times.
Much love,
David

Well done Dave!
It’s fascinating how you are able to juxtapose these contrasting phrases of tension that rise to uber-manic levels then dial it back down to soothing calmness at the drop of a hat. It’s a brilliant sonic representation of what one goes through when they have a secret they so badly want to tell the world but can’t for whatever reason. All the angst of not being able to make the big reveal because the less the world knows the better. So, yes! If you only knew!
I must admit, I felt rather exasperated from the jolting swathes of emotion one way then the other but it was also exhilarating to say the least. Almost like a roller coaster if you’ll excuse the tired cliche. – Jasen Smith
The composition is really fine, expressive and varied – another piece of yours that I am sure players would like to do because there is so much change throughout and it is very pleasing to the ear yet complex at the same time. The MIDI performance is insanely good! – William Kersten
The “bareness” really draws you in, and then there’s the hopeful ending starting at 09:00. I really enjoyed this. – Walt Gohrev
Another excellent work. Great development of the opening motif. – Ifness
This certainly is more pleasing than the #! coming out of Juilliard, but in music, it’s not what you know, it’s who you know. – Keith Otis Edwards
