Life is full of joyous potential
Until a diagnosis rips the bond of body and soul.
Washed by waves of angst, hope, grief, tenacity
Body and soul unravel.
The body cries with suffering
The soul begs to be free.
When the body’s fight can no longer be won,
give permission for this incessant perseverance to cease.
The angels invite the soul’s release.
The bell tolls.
The gate opens.
Elated, the spirit soars.
Welcome home.
